Similar to darts, axe throwing is an indoor sport where a competitor throws an axe at a target. It is usually played against other members of a group.

Absolutely. We have seen the rebound videos on the internet as well – throwing an axe is about control and precision, not about throwing it as hard as you can.

We take safety very seriously at Split-Pine Axe Throwing. Prior to your axe-throwing session, an instructor will explain all the rules, go over proper throwing technique, and answer all your questions. That same instructor will remain with your group throughout the entire session to make sure everyone is adhering to the rules and having fun. Anyone not complying with the rules may be asked to leave without a refund. Only the two competitors throwing an axe will be allowed in the lanes. All others will be asked to wait in a safe area behind the lanes.

Everyone has their own learning curve, but axe throwing is a finesse sport – it has nothing to do with how hard you can throw and everything to do with the rotation of the axe. Our instructors will work with you to teach you the proper throwing technique and stay with you until you are getting results.

**CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 14 ARE NOT PERMITTED WITHIN OUR FACILITY, NO EXCEPTIONS.**

All axe throwers need to demonstrate that they have the necessary strength and coordination to throw as judged by our staff. All axe throwers 14-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All axe throwers are required to sign a waiver; for those 14-17, the waiver must be signed by the parent/guardian.

Our Allentown location is a BYOB venue. (Wine, beer, and cider ONLY. No liquor.) Alcohol will not be permitted in the throwing area. Please be aware that staff will be monitoring all alcohol consumption and will not allow anyone who appears to be visibly intoxicated to throw.

You may also bring your own food. We recommend snacks and finger foods.

There are also many amazing bars and restaurants in the area where you can pick up food and drinks to bring with you. Each of our lanes features a local food establishment with a QR code to their menu!

You do not need a large group. We can accommodate anywhere from 2 people and up. For groups larger than 18, parties, or events, please contact us.

Absolutely! Group rates begin at 18 people or more. Please call or email us for info about group pricing. Our Allentown facility can accommodate up to 100 people comfortably.

You are welcome to bring food and drinks or have catering delivered. We can also set up catering for you from select local vendors, for an extra fee.

We do allow spectators, however, we always encourage everyone to try to throw. We promise it will be an unforgettable experience! Anyone who is dead-set on not throwing will be asked to remain in the safe area.

We require closed-toe shoes for anyone throwing an axe. No exceptions. Other than that, you may wear anything you would like! We do recommend a shirt that allows for a full range of motion. Flannel is encouraged!

Participants will be required to use an axe supplied by us, unless their axe meets WATL specifications.
